The first full budget of the Modi government's second term is being presented today, amidst the country's waning economy and rising unemployment problem.  Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has started presenting the Budget at 11 am in the Lok Sabha.

Nirmala Sitharaman is the first finance minister after Indira Gandhi who is presenting the budget for the second time in a row.

When Indira Gandhi was the Prime Minister in 1970, she also had the Finance Ministry.
Rs.  Taxes on incomes ranging from 1 lakh to 20 lakhs should be reduced from 20 percent to 10 percent.

Deduction under 80C for Rs.  1.5 lakh to increase from Rs.  2.5 lakhs to be made

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will leave her house at 8.50 am in the morning.  There will be a photo session with MoS Anurag Thakur and Ministry officials at the Finance Ministry at 9am.  He will then go to Rashtrapati Bhavan to formally agree to present the Union Budget 2020-21.  From Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Finance Minister will leave Parliament for a cabinet seat.  Budget will be allowed there too.
