Rain in Gujarat : latest news and updates on rain in Gujarat

Beginning with North India, where a fresh Western Disturbance is soon approaching western Himalayas. This will bring along heavy rains and snowfall over the hilly regions of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. One or two places over Uttarakhand might also see some rains. Meanwhile, the plains of Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan will remain dry. Day temperatures might see a rising pattern over most places.

Coming on to East India, where a Trough is extending from Bay of Bengal to Telangana. Also, a Cyclonic Circulation is over East Assam. Due to this, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland might receive light to moderate rains. Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha might also receive light rains. Meanwhile, weather will continue to remain dry over East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand.

During the last couple of days, cloudy to overcast sky conditions are prevailing over the hills. These clouds have even led to light rains and snowfall at multiple places over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Uttarakhand.

Going by the data, while Srinagar recorded a mere 1 mm rains during the last 24 hours, Jammu received 18 mm, Dharamsala 24 mm, Manali 9 mm, Shimla 16 mm, Bhuntar 4 mm and Chamoli recorded 30 mm rains.

These weather activities are occurring due to the presence of an active Western Disturbance over northern parts of Pakistan and its associated Low Pressure Area over eastern parts of Rajasthan. Apart from the Western Disturbance, moisture feeding winds are also taking place from Arabian Sea.

Under these conditions, good spells of rain and snowfall will be affecting many places over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh and Uttarakhand during the next 18 to 24 hours.

The city and state can finally experience chill in the wind from Sunday, mentioned India Meteorology Department (IMD) forecast. The forecast mentioned that rains are likely to recede from the state after Saturday.
In last 24 hours, rainfall occurred in Kutch region, parts of north Gujarat and Saurashtra — adding November rain to 17mm for the state.

‘Morning’s induced cyclonic circulation over southwest Rajasthan and neighbourhood persists,’ mentioned IMD website. IMD forecast stated that the city might experience minimum temperature of 19 degrees celsius, a dip from 20 degrees recorded on Thursday. Maximum temperature of 31.3 degrees was departure of -1.7 degrees.

“There will be no large change in minimum temperature over the region during next 24 hours after which it is likely to fall by 2-3 degrees celsius,” said an IMD official, indicating at the onset of winter for the region.
For Friday and Saturday, IMD forecast has mentioned light to moderate rain or thundershower in parts of Saurashtra and Kutch including Devbhoomi Dwarka, Jamnagar and Kutch. In isolated places in Kutch, gusty wind of up to 40kmph could be experienced.

After flooding several parts of Gujarat, Monsoon rains have slightly eased out in the state. There has been a decrease in rain intensity across Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Valsad, and Gandhinagar.

However, the presence of the Monsoon surge will continue to pour rains over these areas, though of reduced intensity. But this break would be a brief one as heavy Monsoon rains are once again gearing for Gujarat.

This time, it would also cover parts of Kutch, which have not seen much rain activity in the last spell.

According to weathermen, the well-marked low-pressure area over North Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal would be moving further inland in a west-northwest direction. It is most likely to travel till Gujarat and in process, the system would gain more strength and induce a depression.
