Karakoram Highway, One of the World's Highest Roadways

Karakoram Highway, One of the World's Highest Roadways

The Karakoram Highway (also known as the KKH) is said to be the world's highest paved international road between West China and Pakistan. It is a way to paradise if you like to explore the mountains. It has been a lifelong adventure for adventure lovers.

How Long Is The Karakoram Highway?

The Karakorum Highway and China-Pakistan Friendship Highway are 1,300km long through the disputed Kashmir from Hassan Abdal (a small town near Rawalpindi and Islamabad) to Kashgar, Xinjiang province, Western China. Pakistan: 887 km and China: 413 km.

Is the Karakoram highway open?

The road is open year-round except for Khunjerab Pass, a mountain pass at an altitude of 4.693m (15,397ft) above the coast, which opens only between May 1 and December 31 due to heavy snowfall. Heavy snow during heavy winters can block a highway for a long time. Heavy rains in July and August cause occasional soil erosion that could block the road for hours or more. Drive carefully as this is a mountain road with curves and dangerous descents.

When was the Karakoram Highway built?

Road is one of the most awesome and hair-raising ways in the world. Road construction began in 1959 and opened to the public in 1986 after 27 years of construction. A total of 810 Pakistani and 82 Chinese workers lost their lives, especially during the collapse and collapse of the road.

Is Karakoram Highway Upgraded?

Visiting here is not for the faint of heart, though transportation has greatly improved in recent decades. Some sections need to be removed and adjusted regularly. Sometimes, they need to be rebuilt when parts of the road disappear. According to the China Property and Property Management Commission, the road will be upgraded in the coming years: the width of the highway will be increased from 10 meters to 30 meters, and the volume of transport will be tripled. Also, an improved road will be built to carry especially heavy vehicles and extreme weather conditions. Given the precarious nature of the Kashmir conflict between India and Pakistan, the Karakoram highway is extremely strategic and military. In 2010, part of the road was submerged due to landslides in the Hunza Valley

Highway Engineering application for testing performed on highway construction.

These apps are intended to provide students with a clear and accurate understanding of the basics of highway engineering easily. The content of each chapter is divided into a few sections on related topics according to the actual situation. The chapter in these applications includes an extension phase in technical planning, highway reconstruction, advanced road materials used in road construction and highway construction methods. The authors of this book are very grateful that the first edition of Highway Engineering Lecture Notes Apps has been very useful at any level. The authors of these programs have been heavily involved in the study of Highway Engineering over the years and have combined their ideas and knowledge together in writing these applications. We hope that these applications will be useful to students and as part of their reference to assist them in Highway Engineering. "
