5 hair-care tips to beat the heat in style

1. Tie your tresses

Who doesn’t love the soothing feel of wind in the hair? But 'tie the season to keep your a tresses tied. Leaving your hair loose in summers create them more vulnerable to sun damage. Additionally, with heat wave and perspiration, it’s best to keep those strands off your neck lest they might cause an irritation.

This in no way means that you have to settle for a boring hair. From buns and ponies to myriad styles of braiding, there are so many choices that you can flaunt a new hairdo all summer long. “While braiding your hair, make the braids loose, this will give it a messy look and will also detain hair breakage. If you are attending a summer wedding, add dainty looking fresh flowers to your braids to achieve the great ever look,” opines Chandini Kamdar, Trainer at Paul Mitchell India.

2. Style ‘em with a scarf

Create the most of the season with fresh, floral prints in scarfs. This is one summer hack that’s as stylish as a functional. It will shield your tresses from harmful UV rays and detain them from drying, which is a common concern during summers. It will even keep dust and pollutants at bay.

Obtain creative and double up your scarf as a headband, hair tie, or better still…offer your look a boho effect with a bandana.

3. Say no to heat styling

Sun exposure tends to dry out the strands during the summers. Heat styling during this time further rids the hair of its natural oils, making them more prone to harm. Let your hair air dry and choose for styling products that enhance the natural texture of your hair. If you utilize heat at all, assure that you apply a heat protectant spray before styling your mane.

4. Safeguard with a sunscreen

It’s not just your skin, even you hair requires  sunscreen protection. Scalp, mainly, tends to get dry and itchy with heavy amount of sun exposure. Utilize a sunscreen spray for your hair and scalp before your step out in the sun. Rest assured, a sunscreen spray sits light and does not create your hair greasy, so don’t shy away from it.

A SPF-enriched conditioner is another great way to detain the tresses. “A sunscreen-based conditioner with cooling ingredients such as tea tree oil or cucumber extracts is the best choice,” Chandini confirms.

5. Delve in deep conditioning

This is possibly the most essential step in your hair-care routine during summers. Nourish your hair with natural ingredients once in a week to fight a dry and dull tresses. Chandini suggests indulging in a DIY concoction of coconut milk, aloe vera and fenugreek seeds for deep conditioning at house.
